| Roxane and Catherine met while studying music at Laval University. It was immediately the beginning of a beautiful friendship as well as the promise of a future collaboration. It is therefore with great enthusiasm that they find themselves together on stage for the first time in a professional context.
Among the vast existing repertoire for violin and piano, they took pleasure in selecting various works. Moving from the classical to the impressionist period, they invite you to discover or rediscover Schubert, Dvorak and Debussy.
It is a journey of nearly 150 years to which you are invited to come and share this musical moment. |
BIOGRAPHIES Roxane Michaud Roxane was born in Caplan in the Bay of Chaleurs and began learning the violin at the age of 5 from her parents, both violinists. She left the region for her studies and after obtaining her DEC in music at the Cégep de Sainte-foy, she continued her academic path at Laval University where she obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in classical interpretation in the class of Brett Molzan and Hibiki Kobayashi. She then perfected her skills at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec under the tutelage of Darren Lowe, concertmaster of the Orchestre symphonique de Québec.
In addition to having acquired a rich experience as a chamber musician during her studies with the members of the Arthur-Leblanc Quartet, she had the opportunity to explore early and baroque music with harpsichordist and organist Richard Paré.
Roxane was a member of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra for the 2018-19 season. In the summer of 2019 she is selected by the National Academy Orchestra under the direction of Boris Brott.
In addition to passing on her passion for the violin to her many students, Roxane regularly performs as a freelancer in numerous ensembles such as the Orchestre symphonique de l'Estuaire, the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestre symphonique de Québec. Catherine Blouin Catherine began learning the piano at the age of 7. She continued her training at the Cégep de Sainte-Foy under the direction of Brigitte Prévost and then at Laval University in the class of Arturo Nieto-Dorantes where she obtained a bachelor's degree in classical interpretation.
Her interest in the music of the Baroque period led her to discover the harpsichord and, in September 2012, she began her undergraduate studies in harpsichord interpretation under the tutelage of Richard Paré while undertaking a master's degree in classical piano.
Catherine has played continuo in productions of the Atelier de musique baroque de l'Université Laval as well as in various chamber music groups. She holds the position of harpsichordist in the baroque ensemble Zoroastre and in the baroque ensemble La Fresque. |
