a little history

In Spring of 2003, a group of music lovers from Bay of Chaleur, seeing the realization of the Quaii des Arts of Carleton-sur-Mer, set to work to re-establish the JMC Center. Indeed, the construction of a cultural complex with a room of nearly 165 seats made possible the presentation of JMC concerts, and this in a very favorable environment. The acoustics and intimacy of this room were perfect for this kind of concert!

These early pioneers worked with the Jeunesses Musicales of Canada Montreal's office to offer a first season in the Fall of 2003. The response from the public was more than favorable and the subscriptions sale was a success, thanks to volunteers. The first board of directors consisted of: Normand Audet, Claire Bourbeau, Hélène Cyr, Élisabeth D'Amboise, Monique Frappier, Chantal Fournier, Gaétane Leblanc, André Philippe and Richard St-Onge.

Since then, the JMC committee has been enriched with new members and continues to offer subscribers remarkable concerts, year after year. For the last three years, we have also been offering our subscribers an occasional concert that fulfills one of our objectives: showcasing our local talent! However, for the 2011-2012 season, thanks to a generous offer of the Royal 22e Régiment Music, a special concert will be the occasion for a benefit activity for the JMC committee of Baiy of Chaleurs.

It is through the sale of subscriptions that we can continue the presentation of our concerts.  We thank you for your support and welcome all music lovers!
